About Us

Mill Cottage is a charming Lakeland Grade II stone-built cottage in a beautiful location in the tiny hamlet of Hartsop with working sheep farms. Right in the heart of the Lake District, it is in the midst of some of the finest walking country in the area. Walks for all levels of ability start at the cottage front door and you can leave your car behind. It is also a good centre for touring to all parts of the Lake District and accessing a range of other outdoor activities, such as watersports. Mill Cottage is a quiet and pleasant place to unwind and enjoy the scenery and stunning location at any time of the year

Various pubs, hotels, restaurants, and shops are located nearby, and the popular towns of Ambleside and Windermere are only a short drive away.

Spacious (80 sq.m) cottage having 2 bedrooms on ground floor and sleeping a maximum of three adults and one child .

Rustic in character — exposed beams and rafters, hardwood floors and ash doors.

Double bedroom has a king size divan, and the single room a standard single bed with a guest bed stored underneath.

Linen is provided and beds will be made before arrival.

Shower room, adjacent to bedrooms, has electric shower, hand basin and toilet.

Upper Bathroom has a mixer shower over the bath.

A utility room, containing a washer/drier and a freezer, is suitable for drying walking equipment. It also provides facilities for activities on the patio.

The slate floored hallway provides a boot changing, and walking gear storage area.

Economy 7 electric heating, with booster for the hot water supply.

Garden furniture on the slate patio, BBQ and spacious garden that slopes down to the Hayeswater Gill.

Off-road parking for one car at cottage entrance in gated area on slate chips.
